One of the things that most dog owners in question is by how they are willing to dispose of dog feces at the time and place specified (usually outside the home). Many dogs who do not dispose of water, albeit invited walk for long hours and then discard the water once they arrived in the house. Animal communication can be a great benefit to all pet owners. The ability to understand your animals feelings and perspective on life will help you create well balanced and happy animals. It can be very easy to observe our animals behaviour and to place our own judgements on why they behave the way they do, but what happens if you are wrong? Animal communication is a way of truly understanding and getting closer to your animal.
Have you every been miss-judged by some one else, it not a nice feeling is it? Yet it is very easy for us to do exactly the same with our own animals and the result is that we place negative feelings with them.
In one of my sessions I was helping a client who had made one of these judgements about her dog. She had labelled her dog as being a bully. This conclusion was made because her dog was showing friendly signs to younger and gentle dogs but when she got close to them she would turn and snap at them with an aggressive force.
Her behaviour was completely different to nervous or protective dogs where she would leave them well alone.
With animal communication we soon discovered that she was not a bull at all. Far from it her problem was that she was afraid of intimacy! She was also very good at reading other dogs character and this is why she did not want anything to do with the nervous or protective dogs. She was actually desperate to make friends with other dogs and this was why she was choosing the younger and gentle dogs.
This feeling of wanting to be close, changed as soon as her nose got to close to another dogs. Replaced with this feeling of intense shyness and protection.
This new information was so different to what the owner thought was happening with her dogs social skills. That it allowed us to have a completely new approach, focused on helping her to overcome her shyness. Her dog was so keen to make friends that it made the process very effective when everyone was coming from the same perspective.
When we communicate clearly with our animals it gives a greater understanding. This is turn gives us the power to really help them. If you find your self repeatedly asking the question why do they do this or that? Then there is a high possibility that you are not understanding where they are really coming from.
Animal communication is very natural and does not take long to learn. With these skills you will be creating a trusting environment for both you and your animal, as you will understand each other more. It is the same for us humans, when we find someone who understands us we naturally listen to and trust them. Animal communication is the key to a deeper relationship.

In North America it is estimated that there are currently 58 million dogs and 62 million cats. Unfortunately, every year thousands of these pets drown. Due to the fact that many people do not report these drownings, there is no way to know exactly how many pets actually die this way. Although, 99 % of dogs can swim, we have a false sense of security when we see our dogs running and jumping in and out of the water at the lake or our back yard pool. The reason for this is that most dogs (and a few cats) grow very tired after only swimming very short distances. When they are not able to find purchase anywhere with their paws, a debilitating panic sets in quickly, and this is what will cause them to drown. But it is more than just a problem for pets, for loving pet parents will selflessly and without hesitation dive into a frozen lake or rapidly flowing river in an attempt to rescue their animal.
What ways can we prevent our pets from drowning? Here are a few valuable tips:
1. Never take for granted that your dog knows how to swim.
2. Keep a closer eye on a pet that is getting older. As they age, they are unable to swim as when they were younger.
3. Never toss a cat or a dog into the water. They will panic from the initial shock.
4. Obtain a pet life jacket or one of the canine flotation devices (CPD) for your pet. Ensure that they are wearing the device whenever they are close to the water. It is not uncommon for a pet to fall off of a moving watercraft or dock and not be seen.
5. Solar blankets and pool covers look like solid surfaces to your pet. If your animals are around the pool, it is a good idea to remove them if possible to avoid them walking onto it.
6. Put up a pet safety gate to impede a pet’s access to the pool area.
7. Check to ensure that your pet does not have an entry into your neighbor’s pool area.
8. Get a pool alarm for your pool or pond.
9. Keep your pet away from rapidly flowing water.
10. Make sure your pet stays away from frozen lakes and rivers.
Seeing your pet drown and the awful guilt that is associated with it can be overwhelming and very difficult or impossible to recover from. I strongly encourage you to have a look around your property for obvious water hazards. Whether it is summer or winter, you need to drown proof your home as well as your vacation property NOW. If your pet is going to be anywhere near water, make sure they are wearing a canine floatation device or pet life jacket.

Opening the door to your home for your brand new puppy is a sensation that just can’t be explained. Watching their curiosity as they examine and investigate their new surroundings is precious. Despite the fact that this is a very thrilling occasion, some foundations should begin without delay. Puppy obedience training is the first step in an ongoing process that starts right when you bring your puppy home.
You can do this in a number of ways. The key here is to use positive feedback and reinforcement when your puppy exhibits desired behaviors. If your puppy acts in an undesirable way you need to make use of appropriate corrective methods. You need to make sure you don’t ignore any kind of behavior, whether desired or undesirable. Repetition will help us establish proper learning. You need to be consistent with the verbal commands and make puppy obedience training a daily habit.
We always want to use positive verbal praise and even a treat sometimes when our puppy performs something properly or acts desirable. Again repetition will be the key to long term success. Your puppy is extremely smart but it will take some time for him/her to really get it down.
Though it may be tempting to rub your puppy’s snout in the accident or whack him with a rolled up newspaper, punishing your dog in this way is not really effective puppy obedience training. Your puppy will just become afraid of you. This does not help form a wonderful relationship. Do you believe she will come when you call, if she thinks she is going to get a whack?
If your puppy is chewing on something he shouldn’t or did something disobedient then just strongly say “No” or “Bad”. Consistency is essential so pick your word and stick to it. If you find him chewing a lot on something he shouldn’t then make sure he has something that is acceptable and praise him when he chews on that toy instead.
Biting is something all puppy’s do and their sharp teeth hurt. It’s not that they are trying to be hurtful, they are babies and teething is natural. You do need to set limits, you should not permit your puppy to gnaw hands or feet. Patience will be essential here. If she bites you make sure that she knows she hurt you by yelping. Use a firm voice and instantly stop playing. She will learn that biting ends playtime.
It is very important to start and set a schedule for both you and your puppy. Get your puppy used to waking up and going outside to use the bathroom at the same time each morning. You should feed your puppy at the same time each day as well. How frequently you feed your puppy and how much will differ depending on the breed. Remember to always schedule in some fun time. Scheduling everything and being consistent will help speed the training process.
Having a puppy is certainly not all fun and no work. But with some patience, consistency and repetition your puppy can be trained and respectful in no time at all. Puppy obedience training will help your pup grow into a well mannered dog and give you plenty of joy and friendship for many years to come!

Many of the dog owners today struggle with the problem of house training. Although many methods have worked to solve this problem, there are some dog owners that resort to drastic ways out of frustration and desire to have their dog house trained quickly.
In order to get the behavior the dog owner wants, he/she has to find a training method that is right for the dog. It could be training through constant supervision or training with the use of housebreaking aids such as paper or cage. Although, using both also produces results.
Even though cage training is effective, you will find a lot of concerns about this method. Many people think that by using a cage or any other sort of related training aid in general is inhumane and that it shouldn’t be forced on dogs. Although, using a cage has proven to be the most effective and efficient of the many ways to train your dog.
Why is this? Well first of all, because your dog is a den dwelling creature by nature. They would love to retreat into their dens to seek warmth during cold weather or feel cool during sunny days. They consider their den as their home in which they are safe from harm. With this in mind, help your dogs cage look like and feel like his home, not a cage.
Secondly, dogs like to keep their home and bed clean and will be reluctant to soil in their cage. By confining your pet to their own den, they will learn how to control their bodily functions until the proper time presents itself. Puppies need to be taken out more often than older dogs because they have limited control of their bowels and bladder. Taking these steps will help your puppy establish a schedule for bathroom trips.
Cages come in various styles and materials. You can buy one from your local pet supply store, hardware or pet section in some department stores. When you purchase a cage for your pet, consider their needs and consider why you are buying the cage. If you travel, consider purchasing a cage made of plastic for your dog, as wire cages will not protect them from extremes of temperature. Another thing that you want to take into consideration is the size of the cage. Buying a new create when he has outgrown the old one costs a lot of money. So that is why it would wise to purchase a large crate, that way you can block the excess section so that your dog doesn’t soil it, that way you can place your dog in the other half during the night for him to stay in.
